Our CEO, Dr.Anita Shukla McGinty, and our COO, Dr.Jeanne Catherine-Gray, Ph.D., attended the 2023 International Positive Psychology Conference where Jeanne presented the following study along with other preliminary data on the impact of Innate Health Realization* (IHR) theory.

We Asked, You Answered!

During the onset of the COVID pandemic (April and May of 2020), we asked 439 people about their philosophical, spiritual or religious affiliations and how you were coping with the new and ongoing COVID restrictions.

What We Found

Our study revealed that those with an innate health affiliation showed higher levels of well-being and resilience, and lower levels of anxiety and depression as compared to all other affiliations (at both time points: During the onset of this acute stressor (April) and a month later).

People who identified as having an innate health affiliation followed a "stress-resistant resilience pathway." This stress-resistant pathway was unique to the innate health-affiliated group. Atheists, in particular, experienced more fluctuation, following a "catastrophe and recovery" pattern. While other affiliations did recover, they all experienced a significant dip in wellbeing and resilience and higher levels of anxiety and depression as compared to innate health participants.

This study suggests that affiliation with innate health principles is linked to higher well-being and resilience, with higher levels of/and more stable levels of anxiety and depression levels during stressful events. This indicates a strong ability to handle stress with minimal impact on overall functioning.

Further research is needed to explore the causal relationships behind these outcomes.

*The impact of Innate Health Realization theory

This theory suggests that humans possess an innate capacity for creativity, wisdom, and clarity, which can significantly improve mental health and well-being outcomes. While Humanistic, Transpersonal, and Positive Psychology touch upon similar concepts, few studies have explored this internal source as a catalyst for change.
